Redditch Megabowl is to shut by the end of the year after a drop in business.
The Greenlands Drive bowling alley is up for sale and Esporta Leisure is applying to Redditch Council to convert the site to a health and fitness club.
The complex opened in 1993 and employs about 30 full and part-time staff who will now be given the option of taking up jobs with the firm elsewhere in the Midlands.
Megabowl regional director Murrae Blair-Park said: "There has been increasing competition in the area and this unit has been suffering from disappointing sales for some time.
"We have other sites within reasonable commuting distance and our staff will be able to transfer, otherwise redundancy packages will be made available."
Mr Blair-Park added: "It's an unfortunate decision and I know staff have given a lot of hard work, but it's a decision we have had to make."
A Redditch Council spokesman said: "We are committed to providing the best possible range of leisure facilities and we're still moving forward with the development of the Abbey Stadium site."
