A REDDITCH woman will have an extra reason to enjoy her birthday as she celebrates being the town's oldest resident.
Ellen Duggins, who lives at St David's House, Batchley, was born in 1896 and will reach the magnificent age of 104 on Friday.
Mrs Duggins started life in Oxford before moving to Wales when she was a baby.
In 1936, she moved to Mount Pleasant before moving to Batchley, where she has stayed until today.
During her life, which has seen five different monarchs in power, Mrs Duggins has achieved a great deal.
Just some of her many accomplishments include travelling on her own to Australia for the first time when she was nearly 80, winning a glamorous granny competition when she was 99 and modelling for ITV at 102.
She still likes to keep her mind busy through word searches and enjoys the odd game of bingo with fellow residents.
Mrs Duggins, who had 13 children, will be surrounded by family, friends, residents and staff from St David's House to celebrate her landmark birthday.
