FOUR tries from England Students scrum-half Chris Simpson-Daniel helped Worcester to a convincing 54-14 victory at Pontypool -- the last of their pre-season friendlies.
Worcester dominated throughout, but lack of control and basic errors from both sides created a scrappy encounter.
The visitors ran in eight tries, showing examples of pace and class that they will want to carry into their opening National League match at Orrell on September 9.
"We made hard work for ourselves with stupid errors at times, but there were some great passages of play," said Director of Coaching Adrian Skeggs. "Excellent tries proved what we are capable of."
Pontypool came out blazing and led 7-0 after just three minutes, the referee awarding a penalty try for a late tackle on full-back Mone Tuipulotu.
Those were their only points of the first half however as Worcester fought back.
A break from full-back Mathew Back gave Laulala Langkilde space for the first opposition try and he was followed by flanker Gavin Webster from a line-out and drive.
A Sateki Tuipulotu conversion put Worcester 12-7 ahead before Simpson-Daniel took centre stage.
A break from half-way gave him the first of his four tries, and sharp running from the base of the scrum led to his second and third soon after.
Strong midfield play from Langkilde put fly-half Earl Va'a in for Worcester's sixth try, Tuipulotu's boot adding the other points as the visitors led 40-7 at the break.
Flanker Cae Treharne reduced the deficit but substitutions gave Worcester extra spark and Simpson-Daniel ran in his fourth score of the evening which Tuipulotu duly converted.
Strong breaks from wing Spencer Bromley, returning from injury, made valuable ground for the visitors and put Ian Calder in for the eighth and final try.
