CYCLING: Malvern's Ceris Gilfillan scored the biggest win of her career when she clinched the five-day Grand Prix Feminin International du Quebec in Canada.
Gilfillan, who is off to the Sydney Olympics next month, pushed France's Olympic champion Jeannie Longo into second place by just two seconds after 461 kilometres of racing.
Gilfillan was back in 20th position after the first stage but came home fifth after 123km on day two pushing her into 11th place overall.
She just missed out on the honours in stage three, finishing third despite completing the course in the same time as the two ahead of her.
Great Britain strengthened their lead as 20-year-old Gilfillan moved into second place overall as well as taking the lead in the best young rider's competition. The fourth stage saw Gilfillan trail Australian time trial champion Tracey Gaudry by 19 seconds but leading world champion Longo by five seconds.
She finished 17th in stage five and a gutsy show of power and determination saw her take fourth in stage six to see her into top spot in the overall placings.
Gilfillan's Olympic team mate Sara Symington finished third for Great Britain.
