BROMSGROVE Cricket Club won the West Midlands Third XI Championship after rain affected the penultimate week's matches.
Town's game against Old Silhillians was called off early on Saturday when heavy rain flooded the Solihull club's pitch.
This should have given nearest rivals Barnt Green the opportunity they needed to close the gap.
Their game was in the balance against Old Edwardians with Green 88-4 chasing 162.
Key batsman Clinton West was still at the crease but with 28 overs gone, the clouds finally closed in on Cherry Hill Road and the game was abandoned after a downpour.
The home team appeared to be an agonising eight runs short of gaining the winning draw and guaranteeing promotion for next season.
They go into this Saturday's game needing just one point to join Bromsgrove in the Premier Division.
