Headless Cross Ladies continued their good pre-season form with two away victories, beating Southam Ladies 2-0 and trouncing Chelmsley Town 7-1
Against Southam, Cross took control from the start, scoring after 10 minutes when Beth Jarrett broke down the right beating two players and crossing to find Elaine Frampton, who shot first time to give the keeper no chance.
Soon after, Hayley Wootton played a great through ball for Jarrett to run onto and around the keeper and slot home.
Cross were unlucky not to add to their tally with Jarrett, Wootton, Gail Wright, all hitting the woodwork and Claire Maxwell going close with a header.
Player of the match was Elaine Frampton.
Against Chelmsley Town, Cross soaked up early pressure and keeper Eve Adams had to be at her best to push a shot onto the crossbar.
Cross responded straightaway when Claire Skidmore found Gail Wright in the penalty box, only to be brought down for Tina Waugh to fire home from the spot kick.
Cross took control when a Jarrett corner found the head of Sharon Porter to make it 2-0.
Wootton scored the third after beating two players and shot from 25 yards, which gave the keeper no chance.
Jarrett scored the 4th after intercepting a weak goal kick to fire home.
The next came after Amanda Hill beat three players to fire an unstoppable shot.
Wright added the sixth from a Jarrett cross, with Emma Wendon finishing off the scoring.
Chelmsley scored in the last minute for their consolation goal.
Player of the match was Tina Waugh.
The first league game is away to Aston Villa Veterans at 2.30pm on Saturday at Paget Rangers, Castle Vale.
