A REDDITCH man has died in a tragic accident after he slipped off a cliff while walking near Tenby, south Wales.
Barry John Mullis, 42, of Quibery Close, Winyates, was with his family when he fell 70ft from a cliff-top path at Lydstep Haven at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
A massive rescue operation was launched involving an RAF helicopter, two coastguard rescue teams, Tenby in-shore lifeboat and a police launch, which were on the scene in 20 minutes.
Mr Mullis was pronounced dead on arrival at Withybush Hospital.
A spokesman for Milford Haven Coastguard said: "It appears he was walking along the footpath and slipped about 15ft down a sloping bank before falling from the cliff edge onto scree below.
"He was not immersed in water and lifeguards and paramedics administered first aid.
"The area isn't necessarily dangerous if you know what you're doing but unfortunately these tragic incidents do happen and people can stray too near the edge.
"The grass up there can be quite slippy."
