I WAS recently privileged to attend the monthly meeting of the Evesham and District Pensioners' Association. From the moment of entering the room I was made to feel part of the group.
The meeting was run on a friendly efficient manner. It was not, as many imagine, a bunch of old cronies sitting around gossiping and moaning about being hard done by, but quite the opposite. It was a coming together of bright articulate individuals discussing vital issues and taking positive action, and also organising social activities. All decisions were taken in a democratic and pragmatic manner.
Most importantly I found each and everyone in the EDPA to have a real genuine concern about the needs of the elderly and the young in our community. It is important to remember that whatever age you are now, you are the future pensioners of Evesham and what actions your local association take today will effect the future.
If you are approaching retirement or already a pensioner, then why not come along and join in the activities of your local association (every second Tuesday in the month at Wallace House), you will, I'm sure, be most welcome.
FRED KALER, Columbine Grove, Evesham.
