A MAN who denied an attempted street robbery has pleaded guilty to affray.
Alan Dyke, 23, of Windmill Close, Stourport, was remanded on bail for sentence next month.
He was facing trial at Worcester Crown Court accused of trying to rob two boys, aged 12 and 14, of cigarettes in Linden Avenue, Stourport.
But prosecutor Nicolas Cartwright told Judge David Matthews the boy witnesses were "not confidence inspiring".
Jobless Dyke pleaded guilty to an affray on April 2 this year. He accepted that he threatened violence to the boys and caused them to fear for their safety.
The two original charges of attempted robbery were not proceeded with.
Judge Matthews told Dyke - who is already on probation for another offence - that a report from his probation officer was necessary before sentence.
He warned that granting bail did not rule out a custodial sentence. He told Dyke he must live at home and have no contact with the three prosecution witnesses.
