BRIGHT sparks at an established Droitwich Spa girls' school were delighted with top class GCSE results.
The long summer wait was finally over on Thursday for 12 students at Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School, in Crutch Lane, when they discovered if their hard work had been worthwhile.
Determination certainly paid off for head girl Lucy Allfrey.
The 17-year-old is dyslexic and with sheer hard work and support from teachers she achieved two As, two Bs and four Cs.
She is looking forward to a career in land agency and auctioning and will continue her studies at St James' College, in Malvern.
"I am really pleased with my grades and it has been great being a part of Dodderhill," said Lucy.
Aimee Smith, aged 16, of Pridzor Road, was delighted with her three A*s in science and religious education, six As in art, English literature, German, history, textiles and maths, and a B in English.
She has studied at Dodderhill since the age of nine and said maths is her favourite subject.
Aimee plans to study four A-levels at Worcester Sixth Form College and would like a career in engineering.
Classmate Amy Barratt, of Shelsley Beauchamp, near Martley, walked away with one B,seven Cs and one D.
The 16-year-old said she achieved her grades by sticking to a strict revision timetable.
Amy will continue her education at Worcester Sixth Form College, studying GNVQs in graphic design, photography, information technology and business studies.
As the school has a wide catchment area and some students were on holiday, many girls phoned up to find out how they had fared.
