Stratford: AT a meeting of Stratford Rural District Council on Friday, the medical health officer reported a case of enteric fever at Henley-in-Arden. It was impossible to report with certainty the source of the infection. The man in question was away from home every day in business and perhaps contracted the disease away from home. The adjoining premises had been complained about from time to time.

Temple Grafton: A GARDEN party and fete was held in the grounds of Temple Grafton's vicarage on Thursday. The object of the event was to provide funds for the much needed alterations and renovations of the Church Hall, which is being used as an institute. During the evening, a very successful whist drive was held when about a dozen tables were occupied. Mrs Goodwin provided the prizes, and refreshments were given by members of the Parochial Branch of the Mothers Union. The day's events raised £35, which enabled them to open the institute free of debt.

Stratford: STRONGER police action to prevent vandalism is among the methods advocated by Stratford's Chamber of Trade to prevent the deterioration of the town's appearance and atmosphere. The Chairman, Ivor Hayward, said that Henley Street was one of the worst spots, where visitors to Shakespeare's Birthplace frequently leave collections of empty drinks cans and lunch cartons. He also said it should be possible to make a special footpath, complete with a litter receptacle where cans and cartons can be discarded.
