HORSE-lovers can now get themselves a college qualification in equine or equestrian studies by trotting down to a Wyre Forest centre.
Hartlebury Equestrian Centre is one of just four to become part of the Equestrian Outreach Scheme run by Stourbridge College.
It enables students to receive theoretical, practical and varied training to lead to NVQ qualifications or those offered by the British Horse Society or Association of British Riding Schools.
Students attend classes at Hartlebury just as they would at college.
Courses are full or part-time and the total number of study hours required can be accumulated at weekends, during the evenings or at holiday times to suit students.
Courses cover areas such as stable and horse management, riding and teaching, plus IT skills, first aid, and health and safety.
Sue Webb, who is co-ordinating the scheme, said: "Many people who enjoy riding and are interested in knowing more about the care of horses will be able to obtain qualifications in equine studies in a flexible and cost-effective way."
Further information is available from her on 01299 250710 or from the college's equine studies department on 01384 344344.
