ELDERLY people in Bromsgrove are set to benefit from a new £1m sheltered housing complex.
District council chairman Councillor Ann Doyle will officially cut the ribbon at Oak Apple Court in Catshill on Friday, September 8.
Coun Doyle said it gave her great pleasure to open the district's 22nd sheltered housing scheme for the elderly.
"I am delighted that this development will be the second sheltered housing scheme in the Catshill area where it is much needed."
Work began on the two-storey rural style building in April 1999 and was completed in May.
It offers 20 flats and various communal rooms including a lounge and dining room, hobbies room, guest suite, kitchen, laundry and a bathroom with facilities for those with special needs.
The Court has a resident warden and is also linked to the council's Lifeline system.
Mark Weaver, group marketing director of Bromsgrove-based construction group Weavers PLC, said they were very pleased to have worked closely once again with the council.
"This is one of many contracts we have completed for the council which highlights our determination to build strategic long-term partnerships with all our clients," he said.
