LIKE your recent correspondent I too have been surprised at the lack of letters about the Elgar statue and water feature.

I felt that both are marvellous and a credit to everyone involved. I visit the Belle Vue features regularly and the comments from visitors are almost unfailingly of admiration.

Sometimes our councils and officials must despair of ever pleasing our populace and especially after all the splendid work that has gone in to the whole Belle Vue regeneration and so many other excellent projects.

I thank the people who administer this lovely town and its hills. They work hard on our behalf and get most things right, and normally very little credit for their achievement.

Now let's move on to really tackle the problems of yobbism and dog fouling.
