TRACK improvements total-ling more than £100,000 have been carried out at Hereford Racecourse.
Runners and riders will be under starting orders next week for first meeting of the season.
Refurbishment includes a brand new mile long all weather canter down and service track to avoid wear on the racetrack itself.
In addition a new drainage system has been installed around the inside of the course including attention to take-offs and landings of two waterlogged prone fences.
Hereford clerk of the course John Williams said the improvements would be a "great long term asset."
"Our course is relatively narrow and this canter down will save considerable wear and tear to the racing surface," he said.
Racing opens on Wednesday with a 2.15pm first race.
