HUMAN cloning is one of the topics councillors in Malvern have been asked to consider this month.
Trevor Norton, the head of policy and review at Worcestershire County Council, has circulated a series of questions to the Malvern Area Joint Councillor Forum on behalf of the Local Government Association.
The LGA wants county, district and parish councillors to discuss how local government is going to prepare for sweeping social and scientific changes in the next 20 years.
These include the number of pensioners in Britain overtaking the number of children by 2008, human cloning and a possible reversal of the ageing process.
The forum - which has no decision-making power - is to meet at Priory Lodge Hall in Malvern tomorrow evening.
"The LGA has produced a short video to facilitate debate of futures issues and this will be shown at the forum," said Mr Norton in his report.
Four questions have been posed for the forum:
What are the big issues to be faced in 2010?
How will this affect councillors?
How can local government rise to the challenge?
How can the debate be "taken forward" in Malvern Hills?
