A NINE goal thriller at Perrywood Reserves saw the home side off to a flying start in Sunday League Division Two as they beat Abberley 6-3.
And the Wood had shooting star Kevin Matthews to thank for securing the points . . . the goal ace netted all six goals.
In the Premier Division, goals from Joel Corbett and Matt Baldwin gave Perrywood's first team a 2-1 success at Nelson.
Two goals from Matt Upton saved champions Tolladine Sports from an embarrassing defeat against newly promoted Cutnall Green who twice led in a 2-2 draw.
Gary Wenman and Sean Woods both hit hat-tricks as Lakes Sports thrashed Kays Athletico 7-1. Other hat-trick heroes were Sam Shuker of St Johns Sports who beat Red Lion Falcons 5-0, Bobby Vernon in Worcester Corinthians' 5-1 home win over Portobello, and Dean Ballard as RM Talbot recorded their first ever Worcester League win in a 7-2 success at Southside.
Nick Collins and Ryan Hill both scored twice in Herefordshire Bulls 7-2 win against Blackpole as did John King and Stuart Williams as Wyvern came back from 3-1 down to beat Birdport 5-3.
There were two goals each for Matt Molloy of Trinity Sports who beat AFC Vauxhall 4-1; Stuart Harvey as Langland Sports won 7-3 at Severnside AFC; Daniel Bennett in Royal Mail Sports 5-1 win against AFC Mazak and Carl Preece of Anchor Arrow who won 5-3 at The Old Bush.
On Saturday, reigning Premier Division champions Littleton crashed 3-0 at home to Perrywood whose goals came from John Collett, Ian Townsend and veteran Teddy Revell.
Stuart Harvey notched a hat-trick for Langland Sports who won 4-2 at Powick as did Chris Newman of Spetchley Harriers, 4-2 winners over west Malvern.
Steve Freear and Richad Partridge both scored twice for Goodrest who won 4-1 at Pershore Manor as did John Dolphin and Luke Willetts of Martley Spurs who crushed Malvern Radar 7-1. Lee King bagged two as Portobello shared six goals with Dew Drop and there was a brace each for Brian Parker and Chris Langham of Inkberrow Reserves who won 4-1 at Koinonia.
