Old Hill Town (0) 3
Fairfield Villa (1) 2
Midland Combination President's Cup
FAIRFIELD were knocked out in extra time when they travelled to Old Hill Town in the first round of the Midland Combination President's Cup.
Villa took the lead after 22 minutes when a corner from new signing Wayne Crook sailed straight into the goal.
For the remainder of the first half it was Fairfield who held the upper hand and both James Shan and Junior McKeon went close.
Ten minutes into the second half Villa increased their lead when McKeon hit an unstoppable 30-yarder into the net.
On the hour, the home side pulled a goal back when Dave Evans scored from a direct free kick and they were gifted an equaliser five minutes later when keeper Ade Summers and defender Crook were involved in a mix up and Ian Morgan tapped in from 15 yards.
Summers kept Villa in the game with two great saves in the last 20 minutes to take the two sides into extra time.
Steve Salmon shot wide for Fairfield when well placed at the start of extra time but the home side went ahead ten minutes into the first period when Wayne Blakeway scored from 25 yards.
In the 114th minute, McKeon hit the post and Old Hill held out.
