A SELF-TAUGHT artist from Droitwich Spa is hosting a watercolour painting exhibition inspired by the Victorian era.
Ali Paybarah, of Sandles Close, The Ridings, hopes that one day art students and critics will admire and study his work.
He has high academic qualifications in engineering but Ali's real passion is painting.
Devotion and hard work has now taken his artwork to an exciting professional level.
The father-of-three moved to England from Iran 18 years ago with his wife, Elaine, originally from Preston.
He has painted since childhood and consistently shown talent.
His work is inspired by the Victorian period, which boasted romantic and peaceful images.
"I like to look deeply into all walks of life," said Ali
"In my paintings I try to capture the vibrant colours and harmony that we see in children, farm animals, pets and the countryside.
"I create pieces reflecting the style and romanticism of the past and bind it with the more complex and busy present time."
Ali has never formally studied art and his first works were oil paintings, until he discovered the "mystic power of watercolour".
The 54-year-old works from home in his conservatory and especially enjoys painting country scenes and cottages.
Past pieces have included commissions for still life portraits and wildlife.
His collections are also being considered by a company, which produces Christmas cards.
Ali said: "My family have been very supportive and its great to have a job that is also a pleasure.
"In five years time I want to be a renowned figure in the art industry and hope my work will be considered as interesting, exciting and mystic"
Ali is a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild and is currently hosting a three week exhibition at Droitwich Spa Library, in Victoria Square, which opened today.
