THE champagne has been flowing in Willersey this week after the village won its section in the contest to find Gloucestershire's best-kept villages.
It was named as the Bledisloe Cup winner for medium-sized villages with populations of between 300 and 1,000, beating off a challenge from the other finalist, Somerford Keynes.
Parish council chairman Maurice Andrews said the judges had commented on the absence of litter in the village and the obvious level of community involvement in the various village clubs and societies. "We are very pleased indeed," he added.
