SHIPSTON finished their league season with a comfortable win against Overbury.
Invited to bat first the visitors enjoyed a steady start with Tom Wood and Julian Morris sharing a 66-run opening partnership from 21 overs.
Jon Walker joined Morris and he proceeded to dominate the rest of the Shipston innings.
Saving his best innings of the season for the last game, Walker powered his way to a magnificent unbeaten century that contained 11 4s and seven 6s.
Spectators guarded their cars as Walker drove and pulled the ball to all parts of the ground in awesome fashion. No bowler was spared as 140 runs were added in the last 15 overs.
Morris (54) completed his half century and Ben Cox (14), Roger Wickson (12) made contributions but the afternoon belonged to Walker (115) with Shipston posting a formidable target for the home side of 263.
Lee Diamond (2-50), Dave Westmore (1-44) and Ali Munro (2-34) from five overs were Overbury's wicket takers.
From the outset the home batsmen viewed the target as unrealistic and settled for whatever bonus points they could muster.
Mark Simpson (1-19) and Lawrence Stock (1-25) bowled for the first 20 overs unchanged and, with the run rate now above eight, had more or less assured Shipston of the win.
Taking wickets proved to be more of a problem as the batsmen batting for self pride refused to give them up lightly.
Skipper Dave Pyne prised out 3-10, Dave Murphy (3-25), his third taking his tally of league wickets to 500, and Walker, not to be kept out of the action, 1-29.
Lee Diamond (34) held out valiantly and Ames survived the last over as Overbury ended on 137-9 - a result that saw them slip down to fourth.
