DEFENDERS will be quaking in their boots if the new Bromsgrove Rovers strike force continues to bear fruit.
Boss George Rooney plumped for Peter Sutton and Richard Burgess up front in the 1-1 draw against Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, only the second time the pair had played together.
Burgess repaid the manager's faith by opening his account for the season with a cool lob.
And with Peter Sutton already off the mark, Rooney has high hopes for the new partnership.
He said: "I'd back them to cause anyone problems.
"They're a small strike force but very mobile and look like they have the potential to improve.
"If we can keep the ball down the channels and in behind defenders then these two will get goals.
"Peter will never be a prolific goalscorer but his work rate has been invaluable."
Rooney was also more positive about his defence after Saturday's game.
But he was disappointed with the number of free-kicks conceded.
He said: "The lads played well in the first half and they were eager to win the ball. We were solid and much meaner.
"But we put ourselves under enormous pressure after the break and became over-anxious. Some challenges were reckless which resulted in giving away about 12 silly free kicks."
Meanwhile, Roon-ey is still tempted to dip into the transfer market.
He said: "Everyone I've picked has done well but who knows what might become available?
"We're in the wrong half of the table which suggests there's plenty more work to be done."
