SWITCHED-ON staff working for Bromsgrove District Council are set to become even more high powered and upwardly mobile.
The authority, which is seen as a role model for the promotion of environmental issues in the district, is considering buying an electric bicycle for staff use.
Environmental health services chief David Williams said it would be available for use by all staff at the council house making short official journeys.
Members of the environmental health committee, which meets tomorrow, are set to decide whether to spend £699 on a powered cycle.
Mr Williams said: "Air pollution is one of the most significant issues facing local councils and one of the most difficult to resolve.
"One way in which this can be tackled is through cycling rather than driving to local meetings.
"As well as reducing air pollution it is also a good form of exercise and requires far less space for parking."
