THE final day of Bromsgrove's month-long street theatre festival attracted a large crowd to its new venue on Recreation Ground.
The success of the final two Wednesdays' programmes which were switched from the Market Hall appears to have decided the venue for next summer.
District council chiefs made the change to give spectators and players more room and because of complaints about traffic congestion when a part of St John Street was closed during performances.
Robbie Hazlehurst head of the council's leisure services said many people had taken along their own chairs and had enjoyed the party atmosphere on the Rec.
He said the council hoped to build on this year's success to make the 2001 event even better.
Among the highlights of a packed programme Heir of Insanity thrilled the crowds with their dare devil trapeze act.
There was also music from Bromsgrove's Samba Band as well as performances and displays by children from the district.
