A FAMOUS family has signed up for Sunday's North Worcestershire Bikeathon.
Michelle Lineker, wife of football hero Gary, and two of their children will take part in the sponsored ride to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.
Michelle is patron of the National Bikeathon. Her son, George, who had leukaemia and is now in remission, will be raising money for fellow sufferers.
Nicole Harris, chairman of the Leukaemia Research Fund Bromsgrove Branch, said: "I'm delighted that Michelle is coming to Bromsgrove. She is a great help and inspiration."
More than 700 riders are now registered, with 60 more joining them each day. "We've just had 19 choristers from St John's Church sign up. I'm overwhelmed by the response," Nicole said.
Registration for the ride will take place right up until the start at 10am on Sunday at Mere Hall, Hanbury.
Nicole added: "It's not a race, it's a ride. People can take it easy, stop at the pub, or take a picnic." People from all ages have signed up from 80 to just six-months-old, and riders can choose a ten-mile or 26-mile course. The organisers are also on the lookout for marshals. Anyone interested in taking part can pick up forms from Halfords and Baylis in Bromsgrove High Street and Speeds cycles in Birmingham Road, or ring Nicole on (01527) 878493.
