JUNIOR member of Evesham Wheelers, Tom Brazier, rode the final of the GHS Cham-pionships last Saturday.
The ten-mile time trial event held on the exposed A1 dual carriageway proved tough, however Tom battled on to take 22nd place out of 118 riders with a time of 25 minutes and 22 seconds. The event was won by J, Hill in 22.40.
The club held its last club race of the season at Dover's Hill last Wednesday evening when the hill climb was won for the fifth consecutive year by mountain bike specialist Stuart Summers in a time of four minutes 59.9 seconds.
Paul Stockdale clocked 5.39.9 Martin Hall 5.41 and Ian Likeman 5.47.9.
In the time trial disciplines, Brian Newton, Arja Scarsbrook and Ken Haynes travelled to Newport in South Wales to ride in the Ogmore Valley ten-mile race.
Conditions were favourable with Newton taking seventh place in a time of 22.30. Haynes was ninth in 22.43, while Scarsbrook took the second lady spot in 24.57.
The winner was J Pritchard in 20.15 from a field of 80.
Last Sunday, Haynes was in action in the Burton and District 25-mile Time Trial at Uttoxeter where he recorded his seventh under the hour ride of the season with 59.53.
The event was won by Darren Willetts in 52.53.
The club runs were well supported with 25 members taking part in the two groups to Welles-bourne.
The bulk of the riders took the faster race training run led by Steve McGrath. The route taken was through Campden, Ebri-ngton, Shipston, Oxhill, and through to the Watermill at Wellesbourne for coffee.
Return was through Stratford , Long Marston, Mickleton and Broadway to cover 60 miles through the morning.
A second group, led by Colin Grainger, took a shorter route at a comfortable pace for a stop at Wellesbourne Airfield.
This Sunday the club run is to Avoncroft Museum at Brom-sgrove. Meet in the High Street at 9am.
