I WOULD ask all residents not be complacent over the renewed application of English Partnerships to gain accesses onto Far Moor Lane.
Residents should take a moment to study the new plans at the town hall.
The two proposed access roads have been moved to face directly opposite Illshaw and Hollyberry closes, with a new traffic island at each.
There are other proposed traffic calming measures the length of Far Moor Lane - would these be suspension crushing humps that plague many roads in the country?
Lip service has been made to the protection of wildlife but it doesn't take much imagination to figure out that up to 1,000 new human beings on that narrow strip will decimate all kinds of wildlife from butterflies, frogs and newts to foxes and badgers.
The wild meadow flowers will be trodden down or dug up - and no promise has been made to protect the full run of Far Moor Lane's ancient hedgerow and trees.
I know people need houses, that Winyates Green was once tranquil fields and now we live here, but there has to be some conservation of unspoilt fields, flowers and wildlife.
We have a duty to keep, at least, small pockets free of humans to allow nature to exist. We have done enough damage already.
Please, every single resident, this week, now, for the sake of a stamp - send your letter to the development control manager at Redditch Town Hall and ask him to refuse planning permission for access roads off Far Moor Lane and we may just save a little bit more of England going under concrete.
G Stephens Winyates Green
