A REVIEW of the way senior Malvern Hills district councillors operate will be held next week.
Since June 1999, the council has been split into a two-tier system, with an executive board making decisions and "back-benchers" scrutinising policies.
Malvern Hills District Council has already altered the system slightly. Since March, any five councillors can call in a decision within five days of an executive board decision, whereas before this was the job of overview and scrutiny committees.
Now, the authority is to consider if other changes are needed in the light of the new Local Government Act.
The issue will be explored on Tuesday, September 12, when the full council meets.
"The next stage after this will be to consult widely within the district on the various options before submitting a preferred consultation to the Secretary of State for approval," said Kevin Douglas, the council's corporate director.
