GREIVING friends and family are mourning the tragic loss of a caring father-of-two who died in a Welsh walking accident last week.
Barry Mullis, of Quibery Close, Winyates, was holidaying in Lydstep Haven, South Wales, with wife Enid and children Wayne and Sarah, when he lost his footing on a clifftop path, falling 80ft onto rocks below.
The freak accident, on Tuesday afternoon, sparked a massive rescue operation with an RAF helicopter, coastguard rescue team and lifeboat on the scene within 20 minutes.
Sadly Mr Mullis could not be resuscitated and was flown to Withybush Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Shocked friends and family have paid moving tributes to Mr Mullis just three weeks after his father Frank's death from cancer.
The family were enjoying a well-needed break following this loss, and had shared an "idyllic family morning" exploring the Welsh coast and having a picnic before the accident.
Mr Mullis, who was 42, cared full-time for his son Wayne, 20, who has cerebral palsy.
Mrs Mullis, also a full-time carer, said: "We still feel that it's a dream and we're going to wake up.
"Barry was a wonderful husband; my partner in every shape and form and an extremely caring man.
"We shared everything together and brought both our children up together. He was my life."
Mrs Mullis added: "He was a family man through and through and words can't express how we all feel.
"My daughter Sarah is being very brave and Wayne is devastated and confused. He is finding it hard to comprehend because Barry and I played such a total part in his life.
"But we're a very close family and will find a way through this."
A keen walker and photographer, Mr Mullis had raised more than £10,000 from charity walking and cycling events in Wales, for the Swansea clinic where his son was treated.
Mr Mullis' funeral will take place at 11.15am tomorrow at St Leonard's Church, Beoley, and then at 12.30pm at Redditch Crematorium.
Friends and family have requested donations be left for Mr Mullis' children, Wayne and Sarah, at Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors, Birchfield Road, Headless Cross.
