A WINYATES man, who had a history of problems with alcohol, depression, anxiety and epileptic fits, died from an overdose of prescribed drugs, an inquest heard on Monday.
Douglas John Apps, 47, of Fownhope Close, who worked as a carer, was found dead at his home on Wednesday, January 26.
Mr Apps' sister Gillian Lesley Hiatt said, in a statement read out in court, her brother had suffered an epileptic fit induced by coming off alcohol but was never a true epileptic.
And she said in 1996 Mr Apps had spent some time in Hill Crest mental health unit.
Mrs Hiatt said: "But we had noticed a few months before his death how forgetful he was becoming about taking his medication."
She said on occasions he had taken his tablets and had to be reminded of this before repeating the dose.
Worcestershire coroner Victor Round returned an open verdict.
