CONCERNED Redditch people have voiced their opinions about a Methodist church with an uncertain future.
Individuals and groups with attachments to Headless Cross Methodist Church, Evesham Road, were asked to attend a consultation workshop to discuss the proposed redevelopment of the 103-year-old building after dry rot was discovered.
Two sessions were held in July and around 60 members of the public turned up to discuss important issues with the architects commissioned to prepare a report on possibilities for the church.
The main points discussed were car parking, community use, worship space, entrance and access, meeting rooms, a kitchen, the tower, quality of the building, toilets and storage.
Mike Brown, church property steward, said: "A general consensus from the consultation workshop was that the building's spiritual quality must be maintained in any development or restoration."
He said the outcome of the meeting would go towards the final recommendations for the church to be presented by the architects on September 13.
"We are hoping that the workshop will give the architects a brief which will allow them to put forward proposals that take into consideration the state of the building and the views of those taking part," said Mr Brown.
The final decision will be made on the basis of the architects' suggestions and fund-raising will then have to begin to finance the changes.
