STOURPORT Swifts made an early start to their FA Cup campaign when they scored a 2-1 away victory over Racing Club Warwick in a preliminary round tie on Saturday.
It earned them a first qualifying round game at Atherstone on Saturday, September 16.
Swifts made the perfect start when Derek Dooley and Alex Cowley combined down the right to provide the chance for Lee Booth to head into the roof of the net from six yards after only two minutes.
However, their lead was short-lived because the home side quickly equalised after Eden beat the off-side trap near the half-way line and raced clear to beat the advancing keeper.
Swifts wasted chances to regain the lead before the break.
But they did not have it all their own way and were fortunate when Eden was given too much room again and shot against the upright.
The second half saw both sides come close to going ahead, but the picture changed when Simon Marsh came on as substitute.
In the 89th minute he forced a corner and from the resulting kick headedthe winner from six yards.
On Tuesday night Swifts collected three useful away points when they won 2-0 at Cradley Town in the Midland Football Alliance.
After a goalless first half Marsh crashed a volley against the angle of bar and post and Lee Booth hit the rebound onto the bar.
But another inspired substitution by manager Rod Brown proved decisive.
He sent on Paul Moore in the 68th minute and within three minutes he had a hand in helping Booth to net from close in.
In the 83rd minute the substitute provided the cross for Matt Southwick to head the second with the aid of a fumble from the home keeper.
Swifts are at home to Chasetown in the league on Saturday (3pm) and entertain Willenhall on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
