A GREAT-grandmother is certainly in the swim about fitness after becoming the first person in the district to reach a water-borne level.
Stourport swimmer Janet Roberts, 61, has swum 20,000 lengths of the town pool to achieve diamond status in the Jewels of the Forest Award Scheme, which awards different jewels for levels attained in swimming.
Mrs Roberts, of Redstone Lane, put her sporting success down to eating plenty of fruit.
She said: "I really enjoy swimming and have had a great time taking part in the award scheme.
"I have just taught my grandson to swim and I have to keep in shape to teach all the others!"
The wonderwoman of the waves will certainly have her hands full.
She has 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Stourport Sports Centre leisure supervisor Caroline Jones said: "She is a tremendous advert for fitness and an example to others.
"She has worked very hard to reach this level and thoroughly deserves to be the first person to achieve diamond status."
