IN A match played on a damp pitch, Redditch played Studley for the chance to gain promotion to Division 2 next season.
Redditch were asked to bat and were soon in trouble with the loss of two early wickets, but Steve Rose, 8, and Muhktar, 53, began to repair the damage. Skipper Paul Morrow, 45, continued to build a useful score, but it was young Alan White with 53 not out, including 24 off the last over of the innings which enabled Redditch to post 204-8 off their 50 overs. For Studley, Weller took 3-47 with two wickets each for Prosser and Sollis.
Studley in their chase for victory lost an early wicket but Alan Bray, 45 and Wallis 56, took the score past 100. However, steady bowling by Sujay Jaya, 2-53, in 24 overs and Fiaz, 3-57 in 20 overs, ensured the visitors were never scoring at the required run rate to threaten the Redditch score which ensured promotion for Redditch. Studley finished at 150-6.
