A STRATFORD woman who has had enough of commuters parking in her road has called for plans for a park and ride scheme to be stepped up.
For Anne Grey, of Maidenhead Road, the last straw came a few weeks ago when she was involved in a car accident with her neighbour, whose view of the road was obstructed by the parked cars and she could not see.
Mrs Grey said the problem had worsened because of parking permits issued in streets nearer to the town centre which had pushed commuters seeking to avoid parking charges further out and she warned that without the park and ride scheme, things would get worse.
An angry Mrs Grey said she felt apprehensive every time she had to enter or leave her drive because cars were parked on either side of the quiet residential road all day.
She said she had to reverse on to her drive, because she could not see if backing back off it and cars had to wait while she manoeuvred as there was no room to pass.
The view from the drive up the road was poor because of the parked vehicles, including a huge camper van, she claimed, and there was a terrible accident waiting to happen.
"They have forced these people away from the roads immediately surrounding the town centre with these permits but the problem is, they are still not using the car parks but moving further out and that is not fair on anyone," she said.
"This is an accident waiting to happen. This park and ride scheme is vital it may keep these people away from our homes."
The Stratford park and ride scheme is currently up in the air as a question mark hangs over the planned Wildmoor Site, which was chosen after the Bruce Egg Farm plan collapsed.
