VILLAGE HALL: The management committee meets on September 18, at 7.30pm and members will see for themselves the newly refurbished men's lavatory, with hot water and hand drier now added to its other new facilities.
Sadly, they will also be hearing about the latest vandalism in which roof tiles have been deliberately smashed.
PRE-SCHOOL: This week will have seen the start of the group's new term and they wish to make it known that they have every hope of continuing well into the future.
Places are still available. Call at the village hall or ring Sue Johnson on 871128.
FIRST SCHOOL: The start of the new school year sees the opening of the school's new nursery unit next Monday. It is open mornings only and any enquiries should be made to the headmistress, Mrs Marcia Palmer, on 01386 870412.
The public can see the unit on the evening of September 19 when Mrs Palmer gives a talk in the village hall, at 7.30pm, entitled How Well Do You Know Your Village School?.
This is really aimed at older people who have lost their connection with school and who may like to know how things have changed - but all are welcome, and potential school parents may like to use the opportunity to make their preliminary investigations.
Tea, coffee and cakes will be served afterwards and then visitors can walk through the school to the new wing.
Tickets for this event, which is being organised by the St James Social Committee, are now on sale, price £1, and can be obtained from Jenny Phillips (01386 870596) who will also arrange transport for anyone who might have difficulty getting to the hall.
