BOURTON VALE AUTUMN SHOW: This year's show was a success although entries were down on last year, due to the adverse weather during the summer with not a single cabbage being entered in the vegetable class. Other classes were well supported especially the children's classes.

Countess of Buchan Cup best needlework exhibit - Mrs M Wise. Bloss Cup - best art exhibit - Mr P Peters. The Hadley Bowl - best photography exhibit - Mrs Y Finch. Wine Cup - Mr J Gibson. Silver Rose Bowl - best flower arrangement - Mrs C Northing. Children's section: The Children's Cup - Stephanie Lane. The Gore Cup - flower arrangement in a mug or teacup - Natalie Lane. Cairns Cup - highest number of points in children's classes - Stephanie Lane. Arbon Centenary Cup for competitor with highest number. of points not already a cup winner- Mrs R Kimpton.
The Society's next meeting will take place on the second Wednesday in October,
NEW ROOM AT HOSPITAL: Phillip Winter, chairman of the Moore Cottage Hospital League of Friends, officially opened a new meeting room at the hospital last month. It was paid for by a legacy from a local resident and will be used for staff training and meetings connected with the hospital. Mr Winter thanked all who continue to support the Friends' work for the hospital.
CHILDREN'S SOCIETY CASH: Audrey and John Barham thank all who supported the recent open garden event which raised £372.
PRIMARY SCHOOL TARGET: Bourton Primary School Parents and Friends Association has almost reached the target of £5,000 to furnish the school's new library and IT Room.
The association is asking past pupils and relatives of current pupils to become Friends of the Association to help with future events. Contact Charlotte Fielding 01451-810520.
KNITTERS WANTED: With autumn evenings looming, Mollie Wise is asking for helpers to knit for the "Busy Hands for Children" campaign. Baby and children's clothing is needed, Mollie asks for bright colours, not white as this is associated with death in Africa where the clothes are being sent.

CAKE DAY SUCCESS
Kate's Carers are well pleased with the results of their third annual Cotswold Cake Day held last week at the Victoria Hall. Lots of home-made cakes brought in £905 for the charity which provides nursing care for the terminally ill in the North Cotswolds.
