VALE MP Peter Luff has called for the suspension of all plans to move Evesham's post office until the whole town has been properly consulted.
Mr Luff is furious about the lack of consultation by the Post Office Network and the fact he has not received a reply to his letter to David Barrett, retail network head, who, he was told this week, has since gone on holiday.
In a letter to Post Office chairman Dr Neville Bain, Mr Luff said: "I recognise that for some people in Evesham, the intended move will bring benefits and it will certainly bring new life to the Riverside Centre.
"On balance, however, I am clear that the move will have seriously adverse consequences for my constituents and that it must be delayed until these consequences have been addressed."
He added: "The adverse consequences might have been addressed if the post office had kept its promise to Evesham Town Council to consult it and the community if any proposals to move the office ever came forward. This solemn undertaking has been cast aside by the post office in the most shameful manner."
The Post Office Network is displaying a notice in Evesham Post Office thanking people for their views and confirming the post office will still be moving to the Co-op in November.
