AMBIENT video projections tend to be the stuff of dance acts like The Prodigy, instead of folk bands.
But this is part of the allure of Show of Hands, whose songwriter Steve Knightley returns to Worcester next Friday for his first solo gig.
Fans will be treated to a large backdrop displaying images of his travels of the West Country landscape, which has inspired much of his music.
The material will also be used for a series of television programmes Knightley has written and presented about the relationship of his music with the region.
This month sees the release of their eponymous double album compilation, a wide-ranging showcase for the pair's talents and Knightley's strong, gravelly vocals.
It shows how Knightley and multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer reach into the deeply personal, inspired by friendships and folk tales from around the world.
For Knightley, the use of multi-media is a not a new approach, with Show of Hands' website allowing fans to inspect lyrics, chord charts and unfinished songs.
But he doesn't intend to let this latest venture overshadow the music.
"I'm singing traditional songs in their own structure using what everybody has access to now," he explained.
"But it's not The Prodigy - I think that went too far from the actual songs."
Steve Knightley plays Huntingdon Hall on Friday, September 15.
Staff are running a special joint ticket deal for this concert and the Phil Beer Band the following Saturday. Call the box office on 01905 611427 for details.
