OUR 700 Celebrations have come and gone and we are left with wonderful memories of a wonderful weekend enjoyed by so many friends old and new.
We are indebted to Nigel and Rosalie Dawes for the loan of their superb gardens and grounds and to Nigel especially for being able to use the new conference centre for our Craft & Archive Display and teas. Despite the gloomy weather forecast the skies cleared conveniently heralding the arrival of 'England's Glory' Ladies Morris Dancing Team.
Thank you to the Duke of York and their support with the tug of war (sadly Birtsmorton lost, I knew we should have tied the end of the rope on Ted Hall's fire engine).
Our church was so beautifully decorated and looked so welcoming on Sunday morning for our Thanksgiving Service. We were privileged to have the Archdeacon the Venerable Joy Tetley with us to share in our service and thank her so much for her wonderful address our Benefice Choir under their leader Les Williams sang a beautiful anthem. Giles Turner was once more in demand as organist. After the service coffee was served with everyone feeling uplifted.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who supported us in any way, for the loan of photos and memorabilia, for making cakes, serving teas, decorating the church, and for any mundane job that had to be done (a special thank you to the gentleman now nicknamed 'just a thought' for all his support and help).
This all contributed in making our Celebra-tions of 700 years of Birtsmorton Church so very, very, special.
