THIS week's film at Malvern Cinema is High Fidelity (15), adapted from Nick Hornby's best-selling novel.
Although eyebrows were raised when it was announced the action had been transferred from North London to Chicago, High Fidelity is by all accounts a thoroughly engaging portrait of male insecurity.
John Cusack stars as record shop owner Rob, Jack Black and Todd Louiso as his employees, Catherine Zeta Jones and Lili Taylor as his ex-girlfriends and Tim Robbins as his love rival.
High Fidelity is on daily at 7.30pm (except Wednesday) with 3pm matinees on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.
Hilary Swank won this year's best actress Oscar for her role in Boys Don't Cry (18), showing for one night only on Wednesday.
Based on a true story, it tells of Teena Brandon, who flees her home town of Lincoln, Nebraska, to live as a man.
