I REALLY do think it is time that the continual criticisms of the efforts of district and town councillors, and of expenditure authorised by them for what they see is for the benefit of the community they serve, should have some response in their defence.
If your letter writers are so incensed why on earth do they not get off their bottoms and become councillors themselves and see if they can do any better? At least, then, they would be able to speak with some knowledge of the true situation, unlike Mr Hallgarth.
He, at least, would then know that the district council responsible for the expenditure in the Link (and for that matter in Barnards Green) has no responsibility whatsoever for expenditure on pavements, a point I have made many times before in your letters column.
Contributors really should be aware of facts before jumping to conclusions.
How about a few more socially responsible people standing as councillors?
