As one of the councillors responsible at the time for giving the go-ahead for the various enhancements around the town, I have read the comments regarding them over the past few weeks with interest, particularly your latest edition, which confirmed what I long suspected, that there are as many admirers as detractors for what has been done.
I sometimes think that some of the opponents of these schemes are so lacking in vision that if they were in Malvern 150 years ago they would have thrown out Doctor Gully, branding him as a cheap charlatan ruining their quiet little backwater.
In conclusion, I would urge those councillors currently serving not to sacrifice any visionary zeal on the altar of short-term opportunism, as to do so will inevitably lead to decay, decline and rampant mediocrity.
