ANDREW Burton and Rob Morgan (Kington/Acton Burnell) won their fourth consecutive Woodpecker Stages Rally, taking their Peugeot Cosworth to a 64 second victory.
The rally, sponsored by Listers Subaru of Hallow, featured stages in the forests around Ludlow and mid-Wales, Burton setting fastest time on each of the special tests.
He beat off the challenge of Mark Perrott/Paul Morris (Leo-minster/Hereford) whose Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6, a standard car, was able to hold far more sophisticated machinery at bay, and take second overall. He won group N by nearly three and a half minutes.
Fifty-five seconds in arrears came the Ford Escort World Rally car of Gary Midwinter/Martin Saunders who scored their best ever forest rally result and took the lower step of the podium at the finish.
Pete Littler/Andy Marchbank (Widnes) took sixth spot in another Ford Escort Cosworth with backing from On Site.
They retain the lead of the British Trials & Rally Drivers Association Silver Star Rally Championship, but are now under extreme pressure from winner Burton .
Former multiple winner of the rally, Richard Gough/Pat Caine (Ludlow) collected the award for top two-wheel drive car.
