TO call the Wilko Johnson Band blockheads is no insult but a badge of honour for the trio of musicians.
The line-up for this year sees drummer Monti joining Wilko Johnson and bassist Norman Watt-Roy, reuniting three musicians who played together as members of Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
Johnson, who describes life as a non-stop tour, last visited the Huntingdon Hall 18 months ago and will be returning on Saturday, September 16, at 8pm.
Johnson totally unpretentious about his music, laughingly describing it as "three chords, 12 bars and a lot of leaping about", adding "basically we just aim to give people a good time".
The Blockhead days came in the early 80s, where he met Mr Watt-Roy, for whom he has warm words.
"He's without doubt the best bass player anywhere," he said.
The only serious note is injected when the recent death of Ian Dury from cancer is introduced.
"He was a one-off, someone I'm really glad to have known and to have worked with," he said. Tickets for the Worcester show are £9 (£8 concs), from 01905 611427.
