GOAT exhibitors at Moreton Show come from far and wide, but some come from just over the road.
David and Valerie Baker, from Moreton, certainly fall into the latter category, keeping a flock of seven goats very close to the showground.
They took three of their British Alpines to last Saturday's event and picked up a very healthy list of prizes, including the reserve champion kid.
The best goat in the show was adjudged to be a British Toggenburg belonging to a Wiltshire goat keeper.
Also setting their stall out near the goat section were members of the Gloucestershire Goat Society.
Treasurer Richard Rycroft said he had been very pleased with the number of entries at the show and the number of visitors looking in at the goat pens.
He said the society was also looking at the possibility of bringing a milking competition to the Moreton show if the show society agreed.
He said a new site was needed for the goat society's annual show because its current home at Gloucester Cattle Market is due to be demolished soon.
