A COLWALL solicitor could become Leominster's first elected Labour MP if he is voted in at the next general election.
Stephen Hart, aged 50, has been chosen as the party's prospective parliamentary candidate, with the aim of succeeding Peter Temple Morris.
Although Mr Temple Morris is now a member of the Labour Party, he was elected as a Conservative member and has held the Leominster seat for the past 24 years.
He said he thinks Mr Hart will do very well in the General Election.
"Given the weak and backward looking nature of today's Tory Party, if Stephen gets this support he could win the seat for Tony Blair and New Labour," he said.
Mr Hart (pictured) has lived in Colwall since 1981 and has been involved in local politics since the mid-70s.
The Conservatives have already selected their candidate, 32-year-old foreign exchange dealer Bill Wiggin, son of the former Weston-super-Mare MP Jerry Wiggin.
