THREE Chase sixth-formers completed the challenging Lyke Wake walk across the North Yorkshire Moors last week.
Ian Bryant, John Forsdike and James Wallbank had to navigate from Osmotherly, on the western edge of the moor, to Ravenscar on the east coast.
The walk has to be completed within 24 hours and documentary evidence presented to the Lyke Wake committee for recognition.
"It involves at least 42 miles and 5,000 feet of climb - if you don't make any mistakes," James said.
"Anyone who thinks it sounds easy should try it themselves," added John.
The trio, who undertook the adventure as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award scheme, planned the route themselves and, although they found the night navigation quite demanding, finished it in 20 hours and 50 minutes.
