THE number of B&B signs in Upton is making the town look like Blackpool, according to a local councillor.
Coun Eric White made his remark at a meeting of Malvern District Council's southern area planning committee.
The committee approved an application by Julie and Mike Burt for a sign at 35 Old Street.
But Coun Eric White (Upton) said: "I don't really think this is an ideal thing to be hanging in the middle of Old Street. We will be opening the way for B&B signs all over Upton. It's getting a bit like Blackpool as it is."
But Coun Roger Hall-Jones (Priory) said there was no other means of indicating that the business existed.
"This sign is very discreet and in a very traditional form," he said.
