IN THE opening day of the Sterling Classic Malvern Football League Intermilokal started promisingly against debutantes Callow End Harriers at Lower Howsell Road.
On a hard pitch it was at times difficult to control the ball, however there were plenty of goals, as Intermilokal took a 3-1 lead into the interval with the visitors' goal coming from Darryl Lymer, Matt Lancett and Shaun Smith were on target for the home side.
In the second period Matt Lancett completed his hat trick and Shaun Smith grabbed his second of the game. The other scorers were Chris Harper and a Stephen Lancett header to give Intermilokal a 7-1 winning start. Callow End will no doubt improve as the season unfolds and in this encounter they did create some chances, but were thwarted by resident keeper Nick Butler.
The other newcomers to the League Bull Allstars opened their account in the League with a loss against Portobello United at Ross Road, Ledbury.?
James Gladwin was on the score sheet for the home team, however Portobello United finished the more accomplished side as they went on to win 5-1. Sean Ormsby and Mark Cox scored one a piece with Karl Lancett recording an opening day hat trick to give United the three points.
A strong outfit from LTFC 2000 visited Fromes Hill and the found themselves 1-0 down in the opening 20 minutes through James Howard. LTFC moved up a gear an in a spell of 15 minutes they notched four goals to take a 4-1 lead at the break. James Howard pulled a goal back for the home side in the second period and Fromes Hill had chances but failed to convert in t his tight encounter. Robbie Colwell was again on the goal trail as he claimed his first two goals of th e season, along with Lee Clueit, Chris Grubb and Jason Emery they will no doubt be pleased to come away from Fromes Hill with the win claimed. Final score 5-2 to LTFC 2000.
In the remaining fixture in Division One, Morgan Aero battled it out with Club AC30, and after the opening 45 minutes the score remained goalless, with chances created for both sides. In the second period through, with Club AC30 kicking down the slope, debutante Andy Hall scored his first goal for the club in the 55t minute, and only two minutes Richard Jones bundled in the second for the away team, as they started to dominate possession.
Ashley Young came close for the visitors moments later and Andy Hall completed his second goal of the game with an individualistic goal beginning from 40 yards out to see his final shot ease past the Aero 8 keeper. Morgan Aero 8 can take some heart from this game, however their cause will not be helped with a visit to LTFC 2000 this Sunday, which also see Morgan start their campaign against Fromes Hill at Victoria Park, and Talbot head visit Bull Allstars. Bell Inn 98 host Intermilokal and Callow End Harriers make the short trip to Perdiswell to play Club AC30 to complete the round of fixtures.
In the opening day of the Under 18's Youth Division at the County Ground Hereford Lady Club hosted King George Vth Community Youth and came away 4-2 victors in a very close fought and entertaining match. This really was an excellent game of football and both sides should be congratulated for such a spectacle, which augurs well for the season. Jonathan Buchanan and Owen Jones were on target for the home side.
Hereford lads Club prepare to face local rivals Tupsley Pegasus Juniors at the Hereford Leisure Centre this Sunday, and in addition Westbury 2000 visit Campden Town and King George Vth Community Youth host Ledbury Town Colts at Brickfelds, Worcester.
